Roanoke

I took a long weekend in Roanoke, VA to visit Megan.  I had a lot of firsts on this trip, and really enjoyed myself.

My flight there was DFW -> Philadelphia -> Roanoke.  It was my first time in both the Philly and Roanoke airports, and first time in recent memory I’d been on an Airbus A320, which is really nice.  Flying out, I went Roanoke -> Charlotte -> DFW.  It was my first time being on a turboprop airplane, the lovely De Havilland Dash 8.  I got an Airbus A321 on my CLT -> DFW flight.

Megan took me on a fun hike McAfee Knob, and I got to take the iconic photo of the Knob.  3.7 miles each way, with a 1700ft elevation delta each way left me pretty worn out, but it was worth it for the photos.

This was also a “meet the parents weekend,” and after dinner with them, we went up to see the Roanoke Star and the fantastic view of downtown Roanoke.  Dinner was fantastic, and lots of fun with all the great conversations.
