This past weekend was the big moment the family has been waiting for. My cousin’s wedding weekend finally rolled around. It was a really grand affair in New Orleans, LA, where I grew up. This wasn’t a photo trip, so everything is from my Google Pixel, with a little editing done in Lightroom.
I flew in early Thursday morning and saw the sunset from the sky (yes, that’s some free advertising for Southwest). I hoped the sun would light up the tops of the low, pebbly clouds, but there was just a nice glow on the horizon.

Friday consisted of a fun filled day. A trip to Abita Brewery, wedding present buying (because I’m last minute), and a drive to NOLA for the rehearsal and dinner. Dinner was at Tableau, right on Jackson Square by the St. Louis Cathedral. The redfish was delicious followed by toasts all around.

After dinner, we went over to Pat O’briens and had a hurricane in the piano lounge. There are two copper covered grand pianos, and the pianists play whatever you write on their napkins. We heard everything from Come on Eileen to Fleetwood Mac’s Don’t Stop.

Saturday was wedding day. The wedding was in the beautiful St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Chartres. Being in the bridal party meant sweating a lot (welcome to NOLA) and riding in a limo a few blocks to the church. The reception was in the old Ursuline Convent (see below). After the reception, there was a second line down to a jazz club on Frenchmen Street – complete with police escort and five piece brass band. All in all, a great weekend, and I cannot wait to get back down there for some photography.
