I figured the last day would be a wash – literally – as the forecast was rain all day. My plan was to wake up early enough to get a parking spot by Sand Beach and see that part of Loop Road. It ended up raining in the morning and gradually clearing out before lunch. The afternoon was beautiful.
I didn’t take too many photos that I really liked this day. The weather was ugly and they’re touristy snapshots.
Once the weather cleared out, I was able to take my Christmas Card selfie at Otter Point overlooking the park.
I decided to treat myself to lunch in Bar Harbor, so I rode the shuttle in to town again. I had an amazing lobster roll and clam chowder right on the water.
I had planned to do two of the very popular hikes this day and ended up not. The plan was to do Beehive and Precipice before I left… But they both have iron rungs in the rock and I had been slipping on the rock all week. That didn’t sound like a good idea.
After lunch I headed back to my car and said goodbye to Acadia. I spent the night in Ellsworth and left Maine the next morning.
